MP Karen Ludwig calls on Health Committee to Review Glyphosate Spraying

Ottawa – Karen Ludwig, Member of Parliament for New Brunswick Southwest submitted a request today to the Chair of the Standing Committee on Health, Bill Casey, asking the committee to invite officials from Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) to inform the committee about PMRA’s decision to grant continued registration of products containing glyphosates in Canada.
“Several constituents in my riding of New Brunswick Southwest have contacted me with concerns about human health issues related to glyphosate spraying in New Brunswick,” said Karen Ludwig, Member of Parliament for New Brunswick Southwest. “As their representative, I think it is important explore all of the information surrounding the decision to grant the continued registration and use of products containing glyphosates in Canada.”
The federal agency published a report entitled the Re-Evaluation Decisions, Glyphosates RVD 2017-01 on April 28, 2017.
“There is a lot of uncertainty around this issue, and I hope to add some clarity for my constituents by having more information available,” added Ludwig.
